Fodor's Expert Review Delta Hotels by Marriott Downtown Vancouver Suites
550 W. Hastings St., Vancouver, British Columbia, V6B 1L6, Canada See on Map
The modern, New York vibe of this Marriott property lends an air of sophistication to this all-suites hotel. Popular with visiting business travelers thanks to its convenient location in the heart of downtown, this hotel offers everything business and leisure travelers alike would need for a comfortable stay just a stone's throw away from all that downtown Vancouver has to offer.
room
The suites aren't particularly large, but they're extremely well-designed—especially for business travelers, who will enjoy the ergonomic workstations and free Wifi. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer fantastic views of the city—perfect for when you need to take a break from your work.
bathroom
Bathrooms are comfortable but basic. You'll find either a shower or a shower/tub combo alongside a comfy robe and a well-lit vanity.
YOU SHOULD KNOW The staff doesn't stock a lot of towels, so if you're traveling with more than one person, make sure you call the front desk to request more.
lobby
The stunning glass staircase is the centerpiece of the contemporary lobby. There's also a small seating area complete with armchairs, sofas, a coffee station, and coffee tables—a great place to stop and relax before heading out to meetings or to get some work done when you want to get out of your room.
gym
The 24/7 fitness center isn't anything to write home about, but it has everything you need to squeeze in a decent workout, including cardio machines and free weights.
dining
Grab breakfast Manhattan Restaurant, which has excellent organic coffee and heart-healthy breakfast classics or opt to have breakfast delivered to your room (the continental breakfast will run you a reasonable $15 for room service).
drinking
Grab a drink at Spencer's lounge, which offers an Okanagan-focused wine list.
LOCATION
Getting Around
You can easily get around on foot in downtown Vancouver. If you do choose to bring a car, expect to pay $34 per night to self-park or $39 for valet.
Restaurants
Specializing in upscale bistro fare, The Flying Pig (18-minute walk) offers an eclectic menu of dishes centered around locally sourced fish and meat. The name might give it away, but just so you know—this is not a great option for vegetarians. For dinner with a more international flair, head to Vij’s (8-minute drive), a modern Indian bistro that serves trendy small plates—great for sharing and sampling multiple dishes.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Delta Hotels by Marriott Downtown Vancouver Suites has everything that business travelers need for a comfortable, fun, and efficient stay on their next trip to Vancouver, from ergonomic workstations to well-designed suites to easy access to downtown and public transportation.
