Benque Viejo
Old Bank, or Benque Viejo in Spanish, is the last town in Belize before you reach Guatemala. Modest in size and population (about 9,000), Benque is low-key in other ways, too, but the little House of Culture is worth a short stop, and neighboring San José Succotz village is home to the Xunantunich Mayan site. The Poustinia Land Art Park is perhaps the most unusual element of Belize’s art scene.
