    ABOUT

Killaloe is separated from its sister town Ballina by an impressive 13-arch bridge across the River Shannon and a county border; a trek across the bridge is worthwhile for superior dining options. Killaloe—once the hometown of Ireland's greatest king, Brian Boru—is a good base from which to begin navigating the Shannon by boat.
