Kalavrita Canyon Hotel & Spa

$ | Ethnikis Antistaseos and Skaltsa, Kalavrita, 25001, Greece Fodor's Choice

There's something of a business hotel vibe at this unexpectedly slick stay in Kalavryta, but that's no detraction from what is an accomplished stay—efficient, friendly staff and good facilities, including a seasonal spa (November through April) with its own steam room, makes this spot a safe bet. There's even a small outdoor pool open in the summer months (May through September), which is a rarity in the cooler mountain areas.

Pros

  • The spa is one of the best in town
  • Undergound parking
  • The hotel bar is a nice spot

Cons

  • Can get very busy in the winter skiing season
  • One of Kalavryta's pricier locations
  • A popular stay for families, so can be noisy

Filoxenia Hotel & Spa

$ | Ethnikis Antistaseos 10, Kalavrita, 25001, Greece

Like most other stays in Kalavryta, trade here picks up in the winter as Greeks descend on the town and it's wise to book ahead—this hotel is open year-round, however, as is its spa, which is a nice treat given a lot of the facilities in town shut down in the summer. Rooms are cozy affairs with fluffy rugs that speak to the colder months and balconies for summer.

Pros

  • Spa is open year-round and includes a sauna and hammam
  • Disabled access to rooms
  • Good breakfasts

Cons

  • The winter months book up quickly
  • Can be a bit noisy
  • You need to book the spa one day in advance

Stavento

$ | Bank 2 Pounta Beach, Diakofto, 25003, Greece
About 4 km west of Diakofto station is the seaside village of Travese, where this pleasant set of beachside apartments and villas lies. It's a quiet spot, with good facilites, including a bar and a local restaurant that's worth trying—you can also book cooking classes. Rooms are large and all come with kitchenettes and balconies. There's free parasols and sun loungers available for those who'd rather hit Punta Beach than the local rails. Those who opt for the (6--8 person) villas will get sea views and their own outdoor Jacuzzi for a pretty decent price.

Pros

  • A nice spot next to the beach
  • Friendly owner and a fine restaurant
  • Good breakfasts

Cons

  • You're a few kilometers from Diakofto
  • You'll need picking up to get there
  • The beach can get pretty windy
