An extensive park—complete with a lake dotted with tiny islands—stretches behind the château. Within it is the Laiterie de la Reine (Queen's Dairy), built for Marie-Antoinette: inspired by the writings of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, she came here to escape from the pressures of court life, pretending to be a simple milkmaid.
