Fodor's Expert Review Kongens Nytorv
A mounted statue of Christian V dominates King's New Square. Crafted in 1688 by the French sculptor Lamoureux, the subject is conspicuously depicted as a Roman emperor. Every year, at the end of June, graduating high school students arrive in truckloads and dance beneath the furrowed brow of the sober statue. The square's beauty is somewhat marred right now by construction work on the new City Circle metro line, scheduled to open in 2018.
