Copenhagen Strand

Havneg. 37, Centrum, Copenhagen, Capital Region, 1058, Denmark

You can arrive by boat (as well as car and metro) at this pleasant hotel house in a harborfront warehouse dating from 1869. It's a five-minute walk from Nyhavn, and has its own charms - particularly in summer - when you can take a deckchair out onto the waterfront and enjoy the sparkling water and the Nordic light. In winter there's a fire in the cozy reception area.

room

Rooms are small but comfortable (in particular, the small doubles really are tiny - although some have sweet little private balconies), with traditional wooden furnishings and blue color schemes.

bathroom

Bathrooms are white tiled with black worktops, with combined shower-baths and decent water pressure.

lobby

The cozy lobby, down some stairs (but with disabled access) has brown leather couches and old maritime pictures on the walls, as well as some charming lighting.

dining

The hotel has no restaurant, but serves a pretty good breakfast.

drinking

Guests can drink in the long, thin reception area with its exposed brick walls (more comfortable than it sounds) or out on the promenade in front of the hotel, weather permitting.

LOCATION

Getting Around

A great central location, and many attractions are only a short stroll away along the harborfront itself. Kongens Nytorv metro station is less than a 10-minute walk.

Restaurants

South American food, drinks and vibes are on offer at Llama (9-minute walk). Union Kitchen (8-minute walk) is a trendy spot for brunch and 'balls' - meat, veggie or falafel.

Bars

Bash19 (6-minute walk) is a cosy gastropub style joint. Or try new and hyped cocktail bar, TATA (8-minute walk).

WHY WE LIKE IT

While its perhaps not as swanky as the name suggests, the Strand is well-located and reliable, with a cozy reception area and nice views from some rooms. Rooms are small, but the hotel is still a great, comfortable base for sight-seeing - although it's not for those who want to lock themselves away and luxuriate in their accommodation's amenities (there aren't many).
