2 Best Restaurants in Zagreb, Zagreb and Environs

For budget fare, leave the main square, Trg bana Jela?i?a, and go up the steps toward Dolac (the main market). Halfway up the steps on your right is a row of bistros where you can get everything from bureks (a savory cheese- or meat-filled pastry) to simple pizzas to Balkan-style grilled meats for around half what you'd pay at a modestly priced restaurant. And do remember, though Zagreb is not exactly overflowing with budget sandwich shops, traditional bakeries have long fulfilled that role for locals; at such places, which are on practically every street corner, you can pick up a burek for as little as 10 Kn a piece.
