You'll feel immediately at home amid the soft rich furnishings of this 14-room guesthouse in Tvrđa, a one-of-a-kind accommodation and a great place to base yourself while in Osijek. A rambling old building full of arched doorways, long hallways, and exposed brick walls, the house was built in 1861 by an officer in the Austrian army. Each piece of art or sculpture around the hotel is unique, and the super helpful owner, Jasmina, can tell you the story behind each of them. Outside there is a spacious garden courtyard complete with decorative shrubs, bikes to rent, and a small wine and craft-beer bar on-site. They can also organize excursions around Slavonia and Baranja.
