The Best Hotel in Ghent and the Leie, Belgium

Background Illustration for Hotels

Bustling Gent's accommodations are often sleek and modern, and there are several stylish hotels in historic buildings. However, hotels generally target weekend and short-term guests. The tourist office can help you make reservations for some of the inns and bed-and-breakfasts in Gent as well as in the surrounding countryside.

Parkhotel Kortrijk

This rather plush stay by the railway station has the air of a luxury business hotel. The Belgian-French bistro doubles as a breakfast room, and you can add the convivial Jules Bar and wellness center to the overall waft of urban elan. Rooms are restrained and largely nondescript, though the larger family-size rooms at the corners of the building are blessed with giant windows and balconies, to take in the cityscape. Parkhotel have also recently opened a newer branch in the city center, called The Market, which sits atop a burger restaurant. This is cheaper but swaps plush extras for convenience.

Pros

  • Nice pool and gym
  • Infrared and salt saunas are always a plus
  • Large car park beneath the hotel

Cons

  • You can hear the soft rumble of trains in the nearby station
  • The breakfast bar is pretty cramped
  • It's a 10-minute walk to the city center
