40 Best Shopping in Turks and Caicos Islands

When the IGA is out of stock, this fairly typical small-town-style grocery store can sometimes fill the gaps. There, you can also find food items from other neighboring islands like the Dominican Republic and Haiti as well as places further away, such as the Philippines. 

The shop sells bathing suits, T-shirts, bumper stickers, and beer mugs with its famous logo on them.

This chain sells gold and luxury-brand jewelry, designer watches, perfumes, and fine leather goods—all duty-free. The main store is on Leeward Highway close to Downtown, but they do have another location in Saltmills Plaza that is more convenient for guests staying in the Grace Bay hub.

In its heyday, Salt Cay was one of the wealthiest islands in the Caribbean due to its salt. Now a team of women lovingly prepares the native salt in decorative bottles so that visitors may purchase them as a keepsake; use it in your bath or for your margaritas! You can buy them at their place, as well as in a variety of shops throughout the country. 

IGA's downtown location is another North American–style supermarket but offers more to locals at lower prices (the logo is $mart). You can cut your travel budget considerably by purchasing Essential Everyday brand items, and there are alcoholic beverages.

Affiliated with Salt Cay Divers, this little shop has art prints, clothes, and jewelry. Local handcrafted items include watercolors and acrylics, Haitian art, maps, locally made salsa and hot rubs, Bambarra rum, and Salt Cay beach-glass jewelry. There's also an assortment of souvenirs: shot glasses, caps, and T-shirts. If you're a birder, pick up a copy of The Birds of Turks and Caicos to help you identify the island's many birds.

It's easy to miss this little store, but look for a sign that says "souvenirs." The owner, Tasha, is very helpful and inside you'll find simple, locally made handicrafts, including burlap bags with raffia designs, painted rocks, shells and old discarded tiles, bead necklaces, and mirrors with shell frames.

Just in case your suitcase has gone missing, you'll be able to find a selection of undergarments and nightgowns in Undercover, conveniently located off Leeward Highway in Graceway Plaza. It's really the only place on the island to satisfy those needs. Both men and women will find what they need here.

With a wide selection of books and magazines, this is the place to go to supplement your beach-reading stock or if you're looking for island-specific materials. There is also a large children's section with crafts, games, and art supplies. If you want to be sure to find your selection there, call ahead, as they will order it in for you. If you’re staying in the Grace Bay area, check out their smaller outpost, House of Unicorn, in the Saltmills Plaza.
