Barracuda Beach Bar

$$

Though it's just a shack on the beach with a view, this is the epitome of what a Caribbean beach bar should be. Your feet are in the sand, and your table is an old wooden cable spool. Although the food is casual—hamburgers and conch—the views are outstanding and the company is even better. Hang out with the owners at sunset for stories of the way North Caicos used to be. You'll be in great company.

Beach Club

$$$$

Located at the island's newest resort, Rock House, and within the cliffside, Beach Cliff offers unrivalled views and a fantastic atmosphere. Their breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus take inspiration from a number of different cuisines, cultivating a selection of offerings that are unlike anywhere else on island. There is also a bar literally built within the rock, where you can order drinks from their master mixologist and take in the ocean views that make Blue Mountain a villa hotspot.

Bella Luna Ristorante

$$$

For wonderfully traditional Italian food, this restaurant uses fresh heirloom tomatoes and herbs from the garden that surrounds the dining area. The restaurant has two distinct experiences: wood-fired pizza on the ground level and a full menu serving authentic Italian dishes upstairs in what many call the tree house. The pizza oven is fired up from 3 pm for a late-afternoon bite. This property's distant view of Grace Bay Beach has long been obliterated by newer buildings, but they've created a beautiful setting that gets even more special when the sun goes down and the twinkling fairy lights come on.

Big Al's Island Grill

$$

After a few days of local staples and upscale eateries, you may find yourself searching for a great burger. You will find a huge selection of burgers in this ’50s-era-designed diner, including the Pretzel Burger, served in a pretzel bun, or the Hawaiian Volcano Island Burger with grilled pineapple, jalapeño, teriyaki glaze, and Jack cheese. If you dare, there’s Big Al’s Tomahawk Burger, topped with smoked bacon, grilled onions, melted cheddar, cholula sauce, and fried egg. Hungry diners can try the Big Al’s Slider Challenge. If you can down 12 sliders, 18 onion rings, and a drink all in 30 minutes, you get yourself on their Wall of Fame and go home with a Slider Challenge T-shirt. There are plenty of options beyond burgers.

Birdcage Bar and Restaurant

$$$

This restaurant is a little more upscale than most of the other dining spots on the island, with a lovely view of the ocean and tablecloths in the evening. It's become the place to be on Saturday nights, when a sizzling menu of barbecue ribs, chicken, and lobster (in season) combines with live music. The rest of the week offers a menu that changes frequently and a full bar with specialty drinks. Arrive early to secure waterfront tables, but note that a table around the Osprey's pool is also lovely. Simple island weddings are also a possibility here.

Conch & Coconuts

$$

Conch & Coconuts is a great little restaurant located in the newly built Grace Bay Market. Everything on the dining menu has something to do with either conch, coconuts, or both! There's also a great island-inspired drinks menu—try out a Middle Caicos Mosquito or a Grand Turk Donkey Juice to let loose.

Coyaba Restaurant

$$$$

Directly behind Grace Bay Club at Caribbean Paradise Inn, this posh little restaurant with a palm-fringed setting serves nostalgic favorites with tempting, tropical twists. Don't skip the excellent chocolate fondant for dessert. Be forewarned, if the evening looks like rain, much of the outdoor seating is not under cover, making the indoor dining area a bit more crowded than usual. Children are welcome only during the very early evening hours.

Danny Buoy's

$$

A true local watering hole, this bar always has a mix of locals and vacationers. There are those who come here for the drinks and entertainment but also to dine on traditional Irish favorites such as corned beef and cabbage. They are open until 2 am some nights and even have a late-night menu so you can get a bite long after most kitchens have closed. The inside is not recommended for families. If you have children along, go early and take a seat outdoors.

The Deck at Seven Stars

$$$

It's hard to think of a more alluring setting than The Deck, perched on the dunes overlooking the ocean at the Seven Stars resort. Tiki torches, fire pits, and awnings lend plenty of chic to this otherwise much more casual sister of the property's more formal restaurant, Seven. Nosh on small plates, or consider one of the fine lobster or pasta dishes. The Deck is also great choice if you'd like to hear the vocal stylings of local songbirds, Barbara Johnson and Tess Charles.

Dolphin Grill at the Ocean and Beach Resort

$$

Located at South Caicos Ocean and Beach Resort, the grill is the only restaurant that operates oceanside. Here you can find a diverse menu that includes burgers, chicken, and freshly caught fish, as well as some exquisite lobster dishes (when in season). At night this turns into a gathering place for visitors and locals alike; it can be quite lively. On the flip side, it's also one of the few spots to get a decent breakfast any day of the week.

Drift

$$$

This little gem is quite unusual to be associated with such a large resort. Simple and lovely, set by the pool and within walking distance from the beach, this open-air restaurant has offerings for brunch and dinner. Their Neapolitan pizzas are certainly worth the hype, but if you're looking for a more hearty meal, their Premium Angus Tenderloin has also received rave reviews. It isn't frequented by the local crowd much, but this hidden treasure is worth the visit.

Fire & Ice

$$$

This restaurant is exquisitely set at the Blue Haven Resort & Marina, with Leeward Chanel and red mangroves as its backdrop. Start and end your evening with a drink in one of the waterside hammocks or lovely nooks set along the man-made spit overhanging the channel; the seating is comfortably arranged around a fire table, with glass to block the stronger breezes and cooler winds during the winter months. Dining can be under the stars or open air, under-roof. You will find such entrées as grilled lobster and pork tenderloin and, for vegetarians, mushroom and arugula risotto. When in season, they also offer an amazing Lobster Thermidor. Additionally, they have an extensive breakfast buffet offering a variety of options that are tasty and appeal to every craving.

Grace's Cottage

$$$$

This is one of the prettiest settings on Provo. Dine under the stars in an English-style garden or at one of the tables placed artfully upon the graceful covered verandah skirting the gingerbread cottage. Tangy and exciting entrées include Caicos bouillabaisse, duck confit cassoulet, and a succulent tomahawk steak for sharing. The portions are small, but the quality is high. A nice touch is the small stool ladies are given to place their purses. On Tuesday night, live music adds to the good vibes.

The Grill at Grace Bay Club

The Grill's setting, right on Grace Bay Beach, is simply lovely. Tables are set upon a wooden deck, with the menu more casual than that of Grace Bay Club’s Infiniti. Typical fare includes a small selection of sandwiches, pizzas, and entrées like jerk chicken or grilled snapper for lunch. Dinner includes salads, pizzas, and dishes with an Italian bent. Of course, you can try their version of conch salad if you want something a little more local. Tuesday is Caribbean Beach BBQ, complete with a welcome cocktail in a coconut and a vast menu of local specialties. The Grill is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (in season).

The casual yet gorgeous setting, with a patio and deck offering unobstructed views of Grace Bay, makes this one of the most popular dining venues on the island. This is a must-try, as it has delicious home-style island cooking. They have a wide array of local dishes and something for everyone. For around $10, you can order a full meal consisting of peas or okra and rice, a barbecue main, and another side. Located directly next to the Gustarvus Lightbourne Sports Complex, this is also the only drive-thru restaurant in the country. Las Brisas Restaurant & Bar

$$$

With picture-postcard views of the intensely blue waters of Chalk Sound, the setting here is deliriously lovely. This is the only restaurant on Provo that offers an excellent authentic paella (if you order this, give it time—the flavors have to simmer). The menu also includes tapas, so you can enjoy a long lunch, indulging while you gaze at the gorgeous water. Dinner takes a little longer, as everything is made to order; you pick out your fish or meat, decide how you want it prepared, and choose a sauce for it. Try any one of their beef entrées, as they are all wonderful. If you want to experience the sound from the water, Las Brisas also has kayaks and paddleboards that you can rent to go around Chalk Sound.

In addition to making smaller items such as conch fritters and burgers, owner Howard Gibbs provides full meals of fresh-caught grouper and local lobster at reasonable prices. Call ahead to find out what's being served that day. It's tiny—just five tables.
