Though more a daytime hangout (especially Sunday when Nevisians descend on the lovely beach with their families), Chrishi Beach Club remains happening through sunset thanks to vivacious Norwegian expats Hedda and Christian "Chrishi" Wienpahl. You can sprawl on beach waterbeds in the shady "Love Shack + Bar," or on comfy chaises in the "stripper" lounge, replete with pole for shimmying. Enjoy the righteous lounge mix (and mixology), the movie nights, the glorious St. Kitts views, and what Hedda calls "European café-style" food (salads, pizzas, sandwiches like Brie with sun-dried tomatoes and cranberries, and more substantial dishes like butterflied prawns in garlic-parsley sauce). Kids have their own club with fresh-fruit smoothies, DJs spin on Sexy Saturday Nights, frequent film nights are wildly popular, and Hedda's fun funky HWD jewelry line (incorporating leather, coins, found objects) is on sale. Their new Zenith Resort, an adjacent villa development, has some spectacular units. No surprise that the menu boasts it's "The Place to See and Be Seen."

This happening beachfront nightspot merges with the handsomely recycled, rusting ruins of a former salt storage chattel house (the lavatories are particularly creative, incorporating old depth meters and a reclaimed engine room). Turquoise tables and white chairs dot the multitiered bleached-wood deck, all optimally placed for sunset viewing. DJs and live bands are on tap most nights; boaters often anchor at the dock, joining in the fun. The menu and drinks list conjure a Cannes in the Caribbean feel. Savory light bites (priced between $10 and $20) include fish tacos, ceviches, and lobster kebabs. There's bottle service (but of course!), and a small but savvy wine selection to help further loosen inhibitions.

The Water Department Barbecue is the informal name for a lively Friday-night jump-up that's run by two fellows (nicknamed he Pump Boys) from the local water department. Friday afternoons the tents go up and the grills are fired. Cars line the streets and the guys dish up fabulous barbecue ribs and chicken—as certain customers lobby to get their water pressure adjusted. It's a classic Caribbean scene.
