The island's best place for gifts is right above the popular Dinghy Dock restaurant. Local artist Jorge Acevedo paints scenes of island life and Culebra's natural tableaux of mangroves and seascapes. Be sure to browse his one-of-a-kind works and original T-shirts, as well as his wife's handmade jewelry. If you happen to be around on a Saturday, follow him downstairs to the Dinghy Dock, where he plays conga music.

The carefully cultivated collection at Sol Creation could easily be found in New York's SoHo or L.A.'s Melrose Avenue. The boudoir setting of the pretty boutique opens onto three side rooms—treasure chests of playful, bohemian island duds made from crushed linen, silk, fine cotton, and gauze. Haphazardly strewn chunky leather belts and long, romantic necklaces add character to the neatly hanging garments, and owner Sol Beckedorff, a wonder at styling, is as lovely as her shop. The men's collection is equally lush. Prices run $35–$250. Note that the owner also has a small, lovely shop with the same type of goods inside the lobby of the W Retreat & Spa.

This fine-art gallery specializes in oil paintings, sculpture, and photography, representing artists from around the world. Many, but not all, of the artists' works feature Caribbean island motifs. Gallery staff will package and prepare your newly acquired pieces to be shipped home, so you don't have to haul them back via prop plane or ferry. Long-term plans of the gallery founders include expanding programming to include more community-oriented workshops and events.
