Fodor's Expert Review Café Wango

$$$ Caribbean Eclectic

At this alfresco hot spot, Asian wok dishes, sushi, skewers, fish carpaccios, and tartares dominate the menu—and there are no fewer than five better-than-average salads. The chef, who devotées will know from his previous stint at Iguane Café, is known for his original Asian-, Indian-, Creole-, and African-influenced dishes. There are also pricey pastas and daily specials, like a classic sirloin in a Roquefort-poivre sauce. You'll also find beef tartare, as well as tuna and sweet potato fries. Kids are crazy for the ice cream and beg parents for un coupe—so many flavors, so little time. Facing the marina's boat slips, the modern furnishings are charcoal gray and burnt orange juxtaposed with flamingo pink walls and napkins. The seats are often filled with a fun, discerning crowd of mainly French expats; parked nearby, there may be a couple of Harleys flying tiny American flags.
