Marks & Spencer

A franchise of the large British chain, Marks and Sparks (as it's called by everyone in Bermuda and England) is usually filled with locals attracted by its moderate prices for men's, women's, and children's clothing. Summer wear, including swimsuits, cotton jerseys, and polo shirts, is a good buy—but don't forget everything is in U.K. sizes rather than U.S. The chain's signature line of food and treats, plus wine from all over the world, is tucked away at the back of the store.

Max Mara

Prices for this Italian designer's clothing average about 20% less in Bermuda than in the United States, although the accessories sell at much the same as U.S. prices. The boutique is much smaller than its counterpart on Madison Avenue, but it still has a good selection of conservative casual wear and evening attire. You'll find the labels Max Mara, SportMax, and Studio.

Miles Market

Think of Miles as the Balducci's of Bermuda, with a large selection of upscale or hard-to-find specialty food items. The deli encompasses the finest imported and local meats and fish. There's also a mouthwatering range of pastries, cakes, and Godiva chocolates. Many items are on the expensive side, but the quality and selection are without rival. The supermarket delivers anywhere on the island.
