Fodor's Expert Review Fourways Inn
1 Middle Rd., Paget, PG 01, Bermuda See on Map Fodor's Choice
With a top-notch restaurant on-site, this delightful cottage colony comes to life at meal times; for the rest of the day, lose yourself in Fourways' quiet solitude and endless hospitality. Though there are only a few attractions within walking distance, it's very easy to pass the time in such a beautiful garden setting. The property is set amid a profusion of greenery and flowers around a pool.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Be prepared to take buses, ferries, and taxis during your stay, since there aren't any beaches or shops nearby.
room
Spacious suites have marble floors and balconies or patios. Rates include a generous continental breakfast and the morning newspaper delivered right to your door.
Choose a room on the ground floor for convenience and the ability to escape into the gardens on a whim.
bathroom
Bright and airy, with two-sink vanities, fluffy bathrobes, and a separate room for the shower and toilet.
lobby
The charming, historical feel continues through the main edifice, a family home, which belonged to the owners of Harvey's Bristol Crème in the 1700s. Take a load off in the foyer or browse the colorful collection of local artwork.
pool
The puffy white clouds, blue sky, and pink cottages make for a stunning view from the pristinely clean pool and sundeck.
The pool is never more than a few steps away, though some rooms are closer than others. Ask to stay in an outlying cottage if privacy is a priority.
dining
The Sunday all-you-can-eat brunch at Fourways Restaurant is an absolute must-try. An elegant dinner is also served, complete with impeccable service and a live piano accompaniment.
Locals love to dine at Fourways so be sure to make a reservation to avoid a wait.
drinking
Old-world English charm permeates the warm and welcoming Peg Leg Bar & Lounge. After dinner, guests gather around the 18th-century hearth and chimney and out on the patio for pleasant company and a nightcap--or two!
LOCATION
Getting Around
Elbow Beach Cycles is the closest rental shop for one- and two-person scooters, located just 4 minutes away by taxi. You can also rely on buses along Middle Road or catch a ferry into Hamilton from the nearby terminal.
Restaurants
Set in an elegant 17th-century home, Tom Moore's Tavern (21-minute drive) is akin to Fourways' own sophisticated dining room. If you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to step back in time, this out-of-the-way and out-of-this-world restaurant is consistently ranked among Bermuda's best. Prefer not to stray far from the hotel? Dine atop the nearby Belmont Hills Golf Course at Blu Bar & Grill (2-minute drive), where sunsets are spectacular and the sushi is sublime.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Couples seeking a romantic garden getaway--look no further. Charming on the outside, cheerful and spacious on the inside, these classic cottages are the ultimate place to enjoy a quiet, peaceful stay in Bermuda. You won't find a spa or a gym, but the pool is lovely.
