Port Douglas markets

Fodor's Choice

Local growers and artisans gather in Port Douglas's waterfront park every Sunday morning to sell fresh tropical produce and gourmet goodies, arts and crafts, handmade garments, precious-stone jewelry, books, and souvenirs. The atmosphere is relaxed, the crowd is colorful, and there's plenty of variety. If you're not around on the weekend, markets are also held at the Marina on Wednesday—cruise ship day—from 11 am to 5 pm.

Cairns Night Markets

CBD

If you're looking for bargain beachwear, local jewelry, art and crafts, a massage, a meal, a coffee, or souvenirs, the Cairns Night Markets, open daily 4:30 to 10:30 pm, are the place to go. Cash and credit cards are accepted at all venues. It also has a food court that offers something for every palate, from seafood and sushi to Thai and Italian, and desserts such as crepes, waffles, churros, gelato, ice cream, and Italian-style coffee.

Rusty's Markets

CBD

Cairns's iconic weekend "street" market, Rusty's attracts 180-plus stallholders, who peddle everything from fresh tropical produce to art and crafts, jewelry, clothing, natural health and skin-care products, and food. The market is covered, offering a pleasant respite from the sun. Customers can park free for two hours on Friday and weekends in the car park above Rusty's on Sheridan Street.
