Bus Travel

To reach Hoi An from the Danang airport, catch the yellow Bus No. 1 at the roundabout where Dien Bien Phu and Nguyen Tri Phuong meet (a 10-minute walk). Buses run daily from 6 am to 6 pm, leaving for Hoi An every 20 minutes and terminate an hour later at Hoi An’s main bus station on Le Hong Phong Street, a 15-minute walk from the Old Town. Tourist minibus services run directly from the airport and train station. These cost approximately 80,000d and can be arranged at the information counter upon arrival.

Tour buses north to Hue take about 3½ hours, overnight buses south to Nha Trang take 10 to 12 hours, while tour buses north to Phong Nha take eight or nine hours. There are also Open Tour buses available for the route between Hoi An and Hue that include stops at Marble Mountain and Lang Co Beach. These take about five hours.

Hue’s Phu Bai Airport runs a regular shuttle bus service into the city. The 15-km (9-mile) trip takes about 25 minutes and costs 30,000d. Only prearranged, private minibuses run the route between Dong Hoi airport and Phong Nha and the nearest public bus station is Nam Ly, which is just over 10 km (6 miles) away in the wrong direction, so it’s best to book transfers through your hotel. Prices start at 125,000d.

Local buses ply the route between Danang's central bus station and Le Hong Phong Street in Hoi An, a couple of kilometers outside of the Old Town. Buses leave every 30 minutes from 5:30 am until 5:50 pm, taking approximately 45 minutes from door to door. Expect to pay extra for luggage.

Tour companies like Hanh Café and Sinh Café offer long-distance bus service to and from northern and southern provinces.
