It may never be regarded as a party town, but Haiphong has some more than adequate options for letting your hair down. A smattering of smart café-bars caters to an upwardly mobile, youthful market, with regular live music adding to the conviviality. For a more local experience, Haiphong is blessed with numerous bia hoi venues, where gallons of low-price, pilsner-style beer are consumed on a nightly basis. Also fun (if only the once) are the city’s nightclubs and karaoke venues, where pumping house music and enthusiastic crooning are the order of the day.
A club that promises dance music by night and espresso in the morning, Beaumont is the go-to choice if you are celebrating. The wooden ceiling beams and low lighting add to the ambience, and the comfortable armchairs are a perfect place to kick back with a hookah to share. There are several whisky and Champagne options as well. Open from 7 am to 2 am.
Buzz Pub is a smoky brick club that sells the regular spirits along with 14 types of cigars. Reminiscent of a London dive bar, there are vintage touches scattered here and there. There is also a small stage, where you can find live music on Saturday from 9 to 11 pm. They serve beer and cocktails and have a nice regular crowd of businesspeople. Open 2 pm to 1 am.
A funky coffee shop during the day, Mya Bar gets crowded in the evenings with locals and travelers alike. There are high wooden tables, a large fully stocked bar, and friendly staff waiting on your every need. The walls are covered in one-of-a-kind graffiti and art projects.
