Paju
Paju is a largely rural suburb just north of Seoul. Much of the municipality runs along the inter-Korean DMZ, the highly militarized frontier with North Korea. Despite this, and the prominent military presence that goes with it, Paju is a relaxing place, offering plenty of pleasant nature walks and bike trails along its coastal wetlands and river valleys.
For visitors, the big draws are Paju Book City and Hyeri Art Valley, two architecturally inspired communities of creative endeavor, and Imjingak, a moving reminder of Korea's national division.
