Suwon
Suwon is the capital of Gyeonggi Province and the province's largest city, home to nearly 1.3 million people. It's main claim to fame is Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, an impressive system of walls, towers, and gates that encircle much of Suwon's historic downtown. Built in the late 18th century, the fortress is a monument to the ingenuity of the Joseon Dynasty.
Suwon is also renowned for its galbi (grilled beef ribs). These aren't cheap, but they are worth the splurge for an upscale dining experience.
