Fodor's Review

This restaurant began life in the 1950s as a small Bras Basah coffee shop that was a popular meeting point for Western troops stationed in Singapore. After the soldiers left the island, the menu switched from Western-style foods to dishes like western Sumatra's nasi padang (rice cooked in banana leaves). Now in Clarke Quay, Rendezvous is known for its beef rendang (beef curry), sayur lodeh (vegetable in spicy coconut milk), sambal sotong (chili squid), and sambal brinjal (spicy eggplant). Servings are small and meant to be shared like tapas; meat and seafood dishes are charged by the piece.
