Without a doubt, Marrakesh is Morocco's nightlife capital. Options include everything from the free but fascinating goings-on at Djemâa el Fna square to the hedonistic cocktail scene of Hivernage, with its cluster of casinos, cabarets, and nightclubs.
There's something for everybody at Folk, a vibrant restaurant and bar that hosts the most eclectic evening entertainment in town. The menu is Moroccan and Mediterranean. Shows feature belly dancers, gnawa musicians, live bands, and a DJ. Keep in mind that in Marrakesh, people tend to eat later, so the atmosphere doesn't get lively until later in the night. If you prefer something a little more laidback, you can always drop in for lunch.
This establishment is a long-standing favorite for a late-night drink in the medina, accompanied by live jazz nightly, and a platter of sushi if you wish. There's a large roof terrace, with great views of the storks nesting in the nearby ramparts of the Badii Palace, and the interior restaurant and bar, with mosaic-tiled floors, wrought-iron balustrades, and fireplaces, are truly cozy.
