Petra by Night
Strolling through the Siq by candlelight as shadows play on the canyon walls allows you to appreciate another side of the magnificent carved city. During this two-hour event offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting at 8:30 pm, music is played on traditional instruments such as the rababa. If you arrive in the evening, it's a good introduction to the ancient city. Keep in mind that the walk through the Siq to the Treasury is about 1 km (½ mile)—downhill on the way in, uphill on the way back; it begins at the visitor center. There are no carriages at night.
