Cotton candy burritos, macaron towers, and donut ice cream sandwiches are just a few of the most extravagant desserts we’ve found across the country.
Let’s not argue with the facts: Americans LOVE sugar. By far the largest consumer of sugar in the world, per capita, is the United States, with recent studies pointing out that the average person in the country ingests over 36,000 grams per year. That’s the equivalent weight of a 10-year-old child…e.g., Princess Charlotte (!).
But we’re not here to talk about life-sized confections of royal children, appealing as they may sound; we’re here to talk about desserts. In America, we’ve got the whole spectrum of sweet stuff, and some are pretty out there. From cotton candy burritos to macaron towers and even potato ice cream, there are creations available to satisfy all kinds of sugary cravings. But the question is, would you order them? Play a game of yay or nay on our list of wild and wacky desserts from coast to coast.

It’s coated in cocoa powder and topped with whipped cream (disguised as sour cream) and chocolate bites for a quintessentially Idaho look.
