A good travel agent for Botswana
I am going to Botswana later in the year. Does anyone have the name of a good travle agent to make arrangements or it is best to go directly to the safari company. I am totally lost Thanks for the help.

Where do you live?
Generally, thought not always, you will get better deal from an agent in your own country if booking flight-inclusive trip as they will have negotiated deals on flights from your country to the destination but not from other countries to the destination.
Best deal of all CAN be (but may not always be) from an agent in the destination country itself BUT you may not then be covered by various consumer protection laws regarding sale of holidays in your own country.
I'm in UK and can recommend a couple of operators here depending on what you want.

Hello David,
The main operator of safari camps in Botswana, Wilderness Safaris, doesn't take direct bookings so you need to go through a tour operator. I've booked my Botswana trips with Eyes on Africa (www.eyesonafrica.net) who are very responsive and have very competitive pricing. Nicky Glover used to work for Wilderness and knows the ins and outs of all the camps. Take a look at their website and get in touch with her -- tell her I said hi!
Cheers,
Julian Asher

Sorry, forgot to mention that EOA is a US company located in Chicago. I live in the UK, but I found that even the best companies over here couldn't compete with EOA when it came to pricing. The difference in price basically paid for my plane tickets.

I used an agent in Philadelphia, a S.African himself, who is a rep. for Wilderness Safaris, and we were extremely happy with all of our arrangements and feel he gave us a very good price. He arranged our Botswana safari, 6nights in Cape Town/Winelands and V.Falls. We didn't use him for our int'l airfare but I've heard he can also get very good fares to SA. Email me if you're interested.
