There is information about the auto museums on the Stuttgart website:

http://www.stgt.com/stuttgart/mercedesmuseume.htm

Somewhere here I read that the porshce one is temporatily closed for renovation (trying to keep up with Mercedes, I suppose).

Here is a list of hotels near the Mercedes Museum, starting with the closest one:

I'm sorry, schuba, I have no idea; I've never used Priceline myself. I just happened to find that webiste list when I was looking for information on the Mercedes Museum.

I have seen others here report a good experience with Priceline for other European cities, such as Zürich and London.

hi there,

here You can see the offiical prices of the hotels and also make Your reservation it You want to.
http://www.stuttgart-tourist.de/ENG/...els_buchen.htm
Advice: Hm? What are You looking for? Close to the museum (I also guess You mean Mercedes Benz Museum)? Or downtown Stuttgart?

Nuerburgring: Why Nuerburgring, not Hockenheimring which is closer to Stuttgart? Anyway - one round with Your own car/bike is 19 Euro, 4 rounds are 64, 8 rounds 124 Euros.

Opening hour - difficult to tell. Somtimes they open at 8 am, sometimes at 6 pm.

Take a look here:
http://www.nuerburgring.de/index.php?id=106#1017

Here You can call if the track is open (sometime it will be closed for bad wheater conditions): +49 (0) 2691 302 - 630.

Btw: I can hardly imagine that You can to the tour with a rented car. Or do You wann go with the race taxi. Up to 3 persons costs are 185 Euro pro round. And You need a reservation:
E-Mail: [email protected]
Service Line: +49 (0)2691 932020
Only monday to friday 10 to 12 am.

Or You wanna wanna feel real speed? Take the
Zakspeed Viper. One round, one person: 270,00 €. More here: +49 (0)2636 / 8075-17

Any questions?

have fun

hi there,

brrrrrooooaaah! The Viper will be a breathtaking adventure. Make sure You have a reservation fast.

If You are a real motorsport manic and drive by car to the Nuerburgring, You "scatch" the Hockenheim-Ring. As it is located close to the Autobahn You can do a short visit at the racesport museum there.

have fun

I can't provide any first-hand info on hotels, as I haven't had the need to stay in one near Stuttgart. If you want to stay in the downtown area, the only place I have any experience with is the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin (http://www.stuttgart.steigenberger.de). Very nice modern place, across from the train station and a block off the Koenigstrasse (the main shopping street).

There are Formula 1 tracks at both the Nuerburgring and Hockenheim, but the Nordschleife at the Nuerburgring is completely different from any other track experience on earth. If you can afford the Zakspeed Viper, then go for it!!

hi schuba,
hehe, nice flic (now I know where the name "green hell" comes from).
This weekend there has been the 24 hour race. Very strange weather. And a strange race - more than 330 cars on the track.
Restaurants in Stuttgart: if You stay in the Steigenberger, just go arround the corner to the Maukennescht (for local cuisine). Also for this try Stuttgarter Staeffele or Schellenstube (reservation rec.). Nice Italian one is the Amici, also just 100 m from the Steigenberger.
Oh, You wanna come in September? Good! Bad! There are several highlights here to see in September, and a few can course problems with hotel rooms - so make Your reservation very fast!!!
There is the European Musicfestival going until the 9th September.
Also the biggest Winefestival 27th August - 9th September. The Volksfest (don't miss one of those if You are in town) from 29th Sept to 14th Oct.
And: This will be the most problem, three international sport events such like the Road World Championships.
have fun

I just want to clarify that you can only go as a co-driver in the Zakspeed Viper. If you want to drive yourself, here are the Zakspeed options (some on the modern F1 track and some on the Nordschleife):

http://www.zakspeed.de/the-motorspor...dex.php?id=374

On our last visit we saw several people in "Rent-a-Racecar" vehicles, but I don't know anything about this outfit.
