I haven't done it yet - but we will be in Kauai Feb. 15th and have it on our list of things to do. We are leaning mostly towards Kauai Backcountry - they have 7 ziplines - sounds more exciting. One of the outfits only has one zipline and you basically just keep going in a circle doing it - that sounds boring to me. There was one other outfit (forgetting name) that has 8 ziplines and a suspension bridge too. (We're not doing that one only because of the suspension bridge - they scare me to death!)
Have a fun trip!!

We did the Zipline during our trip to Kaui. Here is that portion of my trip report.
Kipu Zipline: Rating 3 for adults and 8 for kids. This trip was not what I expected and maybe that's why I gave it such low marks. I was expecting a hike through the woods and then zipline across the gorges. Instead, we meet at the outfitters shop in Poipu and drove 15 minutes to a field near the forest. We walked about 3 minutes into the forest and came to a waterfall area with a rope swing and cliffs. When everyone took a turn or 2 jumping from the rope or cliff. Then we walked back to the van, had a fruit drink or water and then hike the opposite direction for a 5 minutes until we got to the gorge where they had set up the zipline. They had big platforms on both sides of the gorge. Everyone got on their harnesses and then we took several turns zipping across the gorge, getting down the ladder, walking back to the other side over a bridge to zip again. It was too much like a amusement park activity too me. But I'm certain that my 10 year old son would have loved it. We stayed on the Northshore and had to be there by 12:30. This meant we left the northshore by 10:30 am so we made sure we new where to go, had lunch and then met at their shop. The trip was 3 hours which put us back to the shop at around 4 pm then back to our place around 5 pm. So this basically took up an entire day on Kauai. By the time you get back to your accommidations, your tired, dirty.....
We were in Kauai for 8 days and it's the only day I wish I could have re-planned and picked something else.

Tracy will you please post how it was when you get back? We are going at the end of March. Nancy of we still do it I'll make sure to avoid that one. Also on of our party is pretty heavy but under the weight limit. Do you think it would cause a problem with ziping?

We just did this last week on Kauai. Because of the heavy rains, the portion of the trek to Kipu Falls was not available and we were able to zip twice. Nancy's version was similar to ours, but we were on the all-day trip - hike, zip, kayak, swim (not really a good day for it because of muddy conditions and rain, but some brave souls jumped in!). Actually, we rather enjoyed it and LOVED our guide, Kalani. (If you get him, tell him that "fact and fiction" send their regards! He'll know.)
The zip is short, and you do have to climb down a pretty tall ladder once you get to the other side, but it was fun and we enjoyed the day. In fact, the weather conditions were almost perfect because it was cooler due to the rain and I think it would be rather uncomfortable were it warmer (and buggy - lots of mosquitos on our day but guide said they'd be worse on the next day with the heating).
