Your best meal ever in Vegas?
We're looking for a really nice place to have a great dinner. Price doesn't matter. Nor does location on the strip. Probably not ethnic food (Italian, Mexican) or a place that has mainly just steaks. We still remember a great dinner we had there about 25 years ago. I think the casino is long gone--can't even remember the name. And that time it actually was ethnic food--Chinese, I think. A very pretty, elegant place with a 6 or 7 course meal and great service. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I like Canaletto at the Venetian a lot, and Chinois at Caesars, but those are more on the ethnic side for sure....maybe Drai's in the Barbary Coast?

This is the Europe forum btw.
In any event, I always like eating at Mon Ami Gabi. I tried Chinois and it's okay but not really 'authentic' Chinese food as we have in San Francisco. But it's allright. Spago's, however, I didn't care for-sort of like airline food.

I agree, the Eiffel Tower at the Paris was our best dinner. Pricey, but worth it.
Also liked Circus, Circus Steakhouse. If you want a great steak/meal at a decent price.
Bally's Sterling Champagne Brunch. Worth every penny and then some.

If you want to venture off the Strip I highly recommend Rosemary's. It is one of the best restaurants in town. Impeccable food/service. The chef/owner was once executive chef to Lagasse. Serve fish, steak, veal, lamb...EXCELLENT!!!!

The Palm is a small upscale chain, like Ruth Chris or Mortons. Not sure how many they have. The original, I believe, is in Beverly Hills. They are famous for their huge lobsters and other seafood, steak. Our food was simply wonderful and the service was amazing.

I'd HIGHLY recommend Michael's at the Barbary Coast. It's pricey, but the staff is the most attentive you will ever come across. The dinner is a real experience and the presentation, unlike anything I've ever seen. It's a small room, seats about 50. The decor is traditional Vegas, red velvet and mahogany with very highback queen anne style chairs. You MUST have reservations. There are 2 seatings nightly, I believe at 6 and 9pm only. You WILL not be disappointed. It's located in the Barbary Coast and unless you know about the place, it's very easy to miss. There's a small door to enter the restaurant in the back of the casino. If you go, please post and tell me what you thought.

We've been to the Eiffel Tower Restaurant and also Top of the World at the Stratosphere, twice for each, and had excellent meals, service, and views for all of them.
The Hilton has a wonderful, old-time steakhouse that is also good and has great atmosphere - at least it did a couple of years ago. The way places come and go in Vegas, it might not be there any more.
