Yosemite: Shuttle bus to Badger Pass from Yosemite West?
Hello,
Is it possible to catch the shuttle bus to Badger Pass in the winter from Yosemite West? Or the only option is to drive into the vilage to catch the shuttle? We're wondering if Yosemite West would be a convenient place to stay if we want to go to Badger Pass for snow activities.
Thanks!

Based on

it would seem the shuttle to Badger Pass does not stop in Yosemite West.

You'd only put on chains if it was actually snowing. If there isn't any snow on the road there woudl be no reason to use chains. HOw you going ot get form Yosemit West to Yosemite valley to catch a shuttle without chains?
Why don't you stay in the valley or in El Portal at the Yosemite View Lodge?. You can take YARTS into the valley and the shuttle to Badge.

The bus does not go by Yosemite West. We have stayed there 3 times however. Twice in the condos (Scenic Wonders) and once in the homes, The Tree House specifically (Four Seasons). The drive to badger pass is only 6-7 miles and takes 15 minutes at most. Cables are not that hard to put on and the drive is fairly easy. We were just there on Dec. 26. We also drove up today, 1/18/10, just for the day. Badger Pass was closed because there was so much snow, so we just went to Yosemite West and snow played there. Incidentally, we like both places for lodging.

saxman, Badger Pass was closed because of too much snow? What constitues too much snow? Did they announce in advance? We're thinking of going there in late Feb to ski, and don't want to be disappointed about the last minute closure.

" Did they announce in advance?" They can't announce that sort of thing 'in advance' -- they have to wait til the snow shows up.
We are in the middle of a series of really heavy storms all this week. Chains, blizzard conditions, lifts shut down due to high winds etc etc.
In Feb we could have storms - or not . . . .
