Yosemite Question

We will be going to Yosemite next week. YEA!!! Is it necessary to book tours in advance? We wanted to take the Hiker's Bus up to Glacier Point and do one of the Moonlight Tours. My only concern with booking early is the chance of bad weather. Thanks for your input!

There's no bad weather in CA!! I would understand maybe smokey weather but bad weather? It rarely rains in CA in the summer. Perhaps the occasional thunderstorm that would last about 5 minutes.

They would surely let you cancel a reservation on the moonlight tour.

The new Yosemite Guide, which replaced the old newpaper called Yosemite Today, is full of great information:

Yes, there is no rain in the summer in California so you should be fine on your tours. Book away!

I hate to be the naysayer here, but it can and does rain in the Sierras in the summer, and pretty frequently too...the clouds pile up against the high peaks and that often results in dramatic thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons. It's usually over quickly, but it's not a good idea to be on a high ridge when lightning strikes.

I see that happening in Tahoe on the eastern side of the lake about once a week but I don't see that happen as much in Yosemite. Even in Mammoth it is pretty infrequent.
