YMCA Estes Park without kids?

My husband and I are starting to look at plans for next summer in Estes Park. We are trying to find a nice clean room or cabin near RMNP that is not too rustic and no more than $175.

My 77 year old father will be along and we are in our 40's so we do not have kids coming along but we need a queen size bed and other single bed preferably not a sleeper sofa because they are usually uncomfortable. The lodges at the YMCA are interesting but we are considering a two bedroom cabin with fireplace at $138. The other places we are looking at are Silver Moon Inn, the McGregor Mountain Lodge rooms not suites, and the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn.

Is the YMCA right for our age group or should we find something more adult orientated?

I went with a group of adults years ago. The setting is gorgeous. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Gracieb,

I was looking at the YMCA website and noticed that it says: "Online reservations for our Summer/Fall Season (Jun 1 - Nov 30) can be made using this site beginning May 1st of the year in question".

I was thinking that the farther ahead we booked the cabin the better chance you would have of getting one but that is not possible if I have to wait until May 1st of next year. Now I am thinking about going elsewhere because I am a planner can't handle not knowing if I can get a place there until next May.

Did you run into this problem also?

I tried to get a cabin at their Granby (west side of RMNP) location this summer. Although my request was mailed in on time, I did not get the accomodations due to high demand by YMCA Members who get preference. Try to have a (cancellable) backup plan & apply with them anyway.

You might also consider joining the Y in order to establish memebership status for the Estes Park camp.
