This was a wonderful TR, yk. Thank you very much for all the detail and the super photos. Bravo to your son for the Ranger badges. I was not aware that there are ±400 badges. So many parks! Brava to you.

Public transit $44
Rental Car $240 including gas and parking
Hotel (5 nights) $1226
Sightseeing $203 (we got in a number of places for free, either with reciprocal membership or my son's 4th grade national park pass)

Hi yk
What a lovely trip report! Glad I’m seeing it albeit a few months late. Reminds me that I’d like to return to San Francisco one day—crossing the Golden Gate Bridge by bike to Sausalito offered to this day one of the most stunning and memorable North American cityscapes I’ve ever seen.
Thanks
Daniel

Perfect timing for me - headed to SF tomorrow for a week. We're staying on Nob Hill, also quite close to Chinatown & will definitely check out your restaurant recommendations. We'll be doing a lot of shopping in Chinatown as well. Agree with your comment that this area feels the safest, friendliest, and also the cleanest of anywhere in SF.
Thanks also DW for the bike recommendation. Agree it's a great thing to do, although getting up the hill from Fisherman's Wharf takes some patience... Last time we did (or tried to do that) that the crowds on the GGB were so dense you could not ride on the sidewalk. I forget if we rode on the other side of the bridge, or if we just never crossed. Early am is better for no crowds....

Somehow I missed this terrific report until now. What a wonderful trip you had! I am so glad you enjoyed my hometown as I always worry that visitors won't have a good time. I think you and your son will have long-lasting memories of your time in SF.

YK, it's a wonderful trip report. I live here, and you visited most of the attractions I would've recommended for visitors with children.
If it's not too much to ask, is that free chocolate bar all you brought home for your husband?

We make a habit of NOT buying souvenirs on trips, with the exception of one (or sometimes 2) holiday ornaments. Food can be an exception however.
