Yellowstone or Glacier National Park

We have about 10 days to visit both Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. Which park should we expect to spend more time? Should we even try to do both parks or spend all our time in one or the other? Help ! We need some help on our travel plans . Much thanks ahead of time. Cheryl

Cheryl, Last year we spent ten days in both parks--- the drive from Yellowstone to Glacier was so wonderful!! We were the only ones on the road for miles and miles!! IF you need any more suggestions let me know--- we had such a great trip!

If you do Yellowstone, make sure you include AT LEAST a couple days in the Grand Tetons. Otherwise, you'll miss out on one of America's truly most beautiful spots.

You can absolutely do both. Plan on one day for travel between the two. IMHO, Yellowstone has more to see and do, but both park are GLORIOUS! Obviously it depends on how extensively you plan to hike.

Try to stay in both parks at one of the lodges, make reservations early! Also, if you have time, at least take a drive through or around Grand Teton National Park, just south of Yellowstone. Or if you're driving in from the East, a stop at Cody's Buffalo Bill Historical Center is a must. "Starred" by the AAA, it's the best of the west. If you're traveling with kids, they'll love it. So will you.

Have a wonderful time!

When we lived in Montana many years ago, an old Indian friend of ours explained: "Yellowstone is like comic opera, Glacier is like grand opera."

If you want attractions, it's Yellowstone. If it's hiking and camping, it's Glacier.

You'll have a great time

Cheryl-our family just got back from Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons a few days ago. (We visited Glacier two summers ago also.) Our family's opinion is: GLACIER!!!! The beauty and serenity of the park is magnificent. Yellowstone has the beauty but when it is high season-it seems like a "Disneyworld" atmosphere. If you are going to Yellowstone(and we all agree that every American should go to appreciate our forefathers foresight in saving the land)then PLEASE include the Grand Tetons. It definitely has the same magic of Glacier but on a smaller scale.Alot of your decision would be on what time of year you are planning on going. If you have children and want some ideas on some different acitivites-email and I would be happy to share some notes and ideas on any of the parks.Either way you cannot go wrong-geysers or glaciers.....they are unbelievable!!!!!Debbie

I agree with another post - certainly do both. It's possible, as the drive between the two isn't too bad - certainly less than 7 hours.

Both are incredible parks, worthy of your time. And personally, 3 days at each was perfect for our family.

Enjoy your trip!
