Yellowstone lodging
Does anyone know anything about the following places
to stay in Yellowstone: Canyon Lodge & Cabins,
Lake lodge & cabins, Grant Village, Old Faithful
Inn. We are considering staying in two different
parts of the park. Would appreciate any feedback
on these areas,or where to stay in general. Thanks.

We stayed at the Canyon Cabins and at the Old Faithful Inn about two years ago in August. Make reservations EARLY, we tried about five/six months in advance and had to relocate to a different place each night, as these hotels are inside the park and operated by it (so almost always booked). If you can't find anything, there is lots of lodging in Jackson, WY, and also some outside of the park in Montana and Idaho. Nevertheless, I would suggest you make reservations as soon as you can.

My husband and I visit Yellowstone at least once a year, and always stay at the Lake facilities. We have stayed in the hotel and in the cabins. If you prefer a more upscale facility, the hotel is definitely the place to stay--it is beautifully restored and overlooks the lake. The lobby is fantastic, and in the evenings you can enjoy a piano player while you relax with family or just by yourself.
We prefer to stay in the cabins, however, because we have a lot of camera equipment and other stuff, and hauling it all up to a hotel room every night is tiresome. In the cabins, you park your car at the door. And, in the cabins, you are closer to nature....one night I was awakened by a coyote howling right outside my window...fantastic!
I agree with the earlier comment...I would not recommend Canyon...I've heard bad things from all I have spoken to who have stayed there. Old Faithful, while beautiful, is in the most touristy part of the park, and to get to most of the other parts you have to drive through road construction. And beware, Mammoth Hotel does not have air conditioning...we learned that the hard way.
We have never stayed at Grant....it is too far on the south end, and we spend a lot of time up north.
Have a great trip to this most wonderful of places! Every time I return home, I leave my heart there.
