Yellowstone Construction

Is there any type of construction in YS that we should be aware of. I realize that this is the time of year for it, but if anyone has recently been there I would appreciate the locations.
thanks.

I just returned from Yellowstone today & there was a lot of construction going on. Some of the side roads were closed & be aware that the main road closes at 9 pm. So if you stay outside of the Old Faithful area, you will have to leave the park & head for your campsite etc. before this time. I stayed in Gardiner, MT which is 2 hours North of Old Faithful (it took 2 hours due to the construction). We sat for an hour in the car just getting through delays. The Mammoth Springs Hotel was a very nice choice also.

Hi Melanie,

Your message is a little confusing! I've been to Yellowstone many, many time & have never heard of them closing a road to all traffic. What road do you mean? From where to where?

At the above recomended site, look under news release and then chip and seal project. It will tell what road is being coated.

We just returned from Yellowstone. The road from Norris to Madison has at least a thirty minute delay. It is very rough and dusty. We went on a cowboy cookout at Roosevelt and we stayed at Old Faithful. We had to go around to get back to our motel. It took us two hours. The road closes at 9pm to 9 am.

lesley, you mentioned a cowboy cookout at Roosevelt. How was it? We're going to YSNP in a few weeks & want to take the kiddies on some kind of chuck wagon dinner or the like. How much was it? Need reservations? Was it worth it?
