Any suggestions for things to do in Boston this weekend that are seasonal? Like to compare to NYC:visiting Rockefeller Ctr, skating in central park, cruising 5th ave shops. Is there something comparable to do in Boston? Is there an outdoor skating rink open on Boston Common?

Ye, there is a skating rink in Boston Common, in the area that in summertime is known as the Frog Pond. For great window shopping, try Newbury Street,though if the weather is bad, Copley Place would be better.

Isn't there usually a wonderful "walk" around the State House and Beacon Hill for the lights, esp. Louisberg Sq. for the decorations and the old, beautiful houses? The Common (or was it the Public Garden) used to be all lit up too.

There's also The Nutcraker playing at the Wang - a spectacular Boston Ballet production.
If you have little ones, or are just young at heart, go to Christmas Village at City Hall Plaza. It's the old Jordan Marsh moving figures - just adorable!

The Quincy Market area, although touristy usually has beautiful decorations - haven't seen them this year, though.

Weather is supposed to be quite warm this weekend - Frog Pond is chilled, so it should be open and the warm temps should make walking around much more pleasant than usual in December.

I was at the Quincy Market this afternoon. It is not overly decorated, but the decorations are beautiful. There's an old fashioned train ride there which costs $2 for adults and $1 for children. WBZ and WBZ-AM 1030 Radio are the sponsors. All of the money raised will be donated to Childrens Hospital. Santa Claus has been at the Quincy Market, and parents have been handing him their cell phones to call their children.

Boston Common is beautifully lit. The cost to skate on the Frog Pond is $3, and skate rental is extra. You can also get hot chocolate and snacks there. The brownstones along Beacon Street are also decorated, with very quaint decorations. Also check out the windows at Macy's and Filene's. And there's always the Christmas display at Government Center (the one that used to be housed at Jordan Marsh). I'm not sure what the entrance fee is.

Yes there is plenty to do in Boston per the above and I hope everyone enjoys the city.

However, your question is so answerable it makes me understand what others mean when they call people a troll. You clearly have connections to the mayor or the tourism industry and are looking for "why yes Boston does have this that and that". Sad.
