Okay, I'm scrambling for a last minute Christmas gift for my brother, sister-in-law
and their 20 year old daughter who are travelling to Hawaii after Christmas. I thought I would get them a little collection of stuff (books mostly). I heard about a wonderful book called "Molokai." Any other fun suggestions! Thanks!

James Michener's Hawaii is a good read. How about the new HAPA album - available at mele.com. Put in some #45 suntan lotion, some flip flops, an issue of Hawaii Magazine (can get at Barnes and Noble). Maybe an underwater disposable camera...

Our office did something similar last time we went to Hawaii and it was so much fun!

crazy4hawaii has a good idea. You should be able to get the Hapa cd at barnes and noble and maybe borders. Their music should put them in the mood. Also for books - The Ultimate (Kauai) Guidebook, Kauai Revealed (title and subtitle)are excellent. I know there's one each for Kauai, Maui and the Big Island.

Maybe put the items in a beach pail? Macadmaia nuts as well?

Well these wouldn't be for their trip, and probably wouldn't arrive until after the holidays... but is in the aloha pirit of things...

"Maui Babe" sun products has a website that mail orders. Also "Oils of Aloha" which sells wonderful body lotions as well as flavored macadamia nut oils for cooking.

Which island are they headed to? You wrote Hawaii, so do you mean the Big Island?

As far as music goes, there's always "IZ" (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole). His wonderfully gentle version of "Over the Rainbow" - from the album "Alone in IZ World" and used in the closing scenes of "50 First Dates" never fails to remind me of Hawaii and bring out a big smile.

Go to Amazon.com and search the album out to hear a sample.

Also, consider a DVD of any of the vast number of movies filmed in Hawaii. Certainly no shortage of choice there. Just a few examples:

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Six Days, Seven Nights
Any of the Jurassic Park films
Mighty Joe Young (latest version)
Pearl Harbor
Tora! Tora! Tora!
Blue Hawaii
South Pacific (original version)
Hawaii
50 First Dates

The list goes on and on. If you do choose to buy such a DVD I would choose one that really shows off the scenery.
