Wondering about Natchez Trace Pkwy
Hubby and I are interested in opinions on this Pkwy. We are wondering if it would be interesting or boring to drive the length of it from Natchez into TN. We are a senior couple and wouldn't be doing much hiking. I'm assuming that you have to get off the Pkwy for hotels and restaurants, correct? Are there decent accommodations in the nearby towns? Is it similar to the Blue Ridge Pkwy? Or, should we just forget about doing it?
Thanks,
isy

Hi,
I have only done the segment from Natchez to Jackson,MS. It is well worth it. Lots of sites to see, some on and some off of the Trace. Be sure to see the Windsor Ruins neat Port Gibson, MS. Take your time, relax, its the south!
Rich.

We will be doing the parkway in September following a ship's reunion in Baton Rouge.
We will take our time Sunday driving to and staying over in Natchitoches. Monday a slow drive to Natchez and Vicksburg. Tuesday to Port Gibson and up to Tupelo. Wednesday, continuing north and working our way to Dandridge, TN and stay over there on our way home to Virginia.
Friends in TN and MS tell me it is a worthwhile trip. I don't think it will be boring because it is new to us, We will be staying in Holiday Inns Express every night.
I understand the speed limit is 45 or 50 mph along the parkway. You can google it for more info. You can find hotels along the way by going to freetrip.com and entering your starting and finishing points and hotels in your price range.

The speed limit on the Parkway is about 50 mph. The scenery is beautiful - forests and fields - and there are lots of historical markers that provide additional information on the Trace and all the things that have happened there. In more rural areas, it might be a bit difficult to find accomodations and/or restaurants just off the Trace. Plan to stop at larger towns only if possible.
