wolf trap Washington D.C.

I will be in D.C. the 1st week of April with my two kids ages 12 and 14. I saw that there was a concert of Viena Teng at the Wolf trap and was wondering how difficult it is to get there by public transportation. About how long would it take to get there and is the public transportation direct? Although my kids are older now they still will be tired after the concert and I don't want to go if it will be too difficult to return to D.C. We are staying in Dupont Circle.
Thanks so much for your help.....

It's going to take at least an hour from DuPont Circle by public transport. Red line to Orange Line. Take Orange line to W. Falls Chruch to get the Wolf Trap Shuttle. Another 10-15 minutes from there.

Thanks Mike for the info...I think I will pass on getting tickets this trip. It seems that it might be a little complicated at 11pm.

I missed the shuttle by 2 minutes (waiting for my friend) and thought I would NEVER get back to the hotel in Chevy Chase. I was furious...
It cost a fortune and took 2 hours to get a cab to come and get us at Wolftrap. We had to sit outside the gates and the poor park Rangers were pretty impatient, too.
They can't leave until every last person is gone and there were about 20 stranded people. The shuttle left at precisely the exact moment scheduled. You are HOSED if you are even one minute late!

Wolf Trap is much easier to reach by car than public transport.

Those people on the bus who got there on time were undoubtedly happy it left ON TIME, too.

I am sure they were...
I certainly do not blame them for leaving at the exact scheduled moment... down to the second.
My folly serves as a warning to others that may choose this method of transport.
Make sure you are early. In a big concert that means no dilly-dallying around. Go to the bathroom an hour before the end of the concert. Lines are always long for the ladies, but there is a surge right after the concert.
One of my fellow cab riders said that they arrived at the appointed time and the bus was already gone. His watch was a few minutes slow.
Just saying... this form of transport seems to work great and it drops you off right at the gate. Just take no chances... arrive early and pack up early.
If that sounds like a hassle, don't do it.
