Why not call the wineries you want to visit and ask them?

Great idea...
I am in the process of mapping out the wineries I need to visit.
Thanks, it will take the guess work out of the process. My youngest will not want to taste much anyway.

Why not just go to the wineries you want to go to, then just let them pour. If they are concerned about your daughter possibly being under age, they can ask you/her. No harm done. It's not illegal, apparently, in CA.

I'm thinking she will be allowed to taste, especially at the smaller, less commercial vineyards which are more like being in someone's home than in a bar...do wineries even have "liqour licenses?"

I bet they won't even ask.

3 years ago, my brother (in his 40s) took me (in my 30s), his very good friend (in his 40s) and the friend's son (16) to Napa Valley for some wine tasting. The glasses are being passed along and, not thinking (really), I gave a glass to the 16-year-old and the young lady doing the tour screamed "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!". Not kidding. I apologized, everyone laughed, except her. I tell you, she didn't look very happy with me.

I'm sure they will care.

It would suck to be a winery and lose your liquor license.

I think there is also Olive Oil tasting in Sonoma, so your daughter won't feel that left out at tastings.

I worked at the District Attorney's office. It is illegal (you cannot give your permission) for your daughter to consume alcohol at the wineries. As some have suggested, please don't "see" if an employee makes the mistake of not asking for her I.D. and pours for her.
