I found an interesting website that I thought other Fodorites might enjoy too -- the names of various winds. I learned the difference between a typhoon, a Sirocco, and a Williwaw. Go figure.

This will fall into the category of "more trivia than you wanted to know". But the song from Paint your Wagon is spelled "Maria" not "Mariah", although that's how it's prounounced. But did you know that Mariah Carey was named for that song? Apparently her parents didn't know how Lerner and Lowe spelled it, so they spelled her name the way they wanted it pronounced.
