wildlife on beach near san simeon
I am driving later in the week from carmel to san simeon on Rte. 1.. I have some memory that there is a place along the way to see sea lions or some other wildlife pod of some sort close to san simeon. Am I remembering correctly?
thanks for any help.

Also, if time allows, stop at stunning Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. IMO it's the most beautiful stretch of California coastline there is, and there's usually a fair amount of wildlife present in the park as well.
But the elephant seal colony at Piedras Blancas is fascinating.

The parking lot for San Simeon is on Google Maps as Friends of the Elephant Seal. Going southbound be careful not to drive past the lot.
