Wildfire locations

We live on the east coast and it's difficult to pinpoint the exact fire locations from the news. We will be driving the NW coast (WA.,OR.,CA.)shortly. It looks like the fires are inland and haven't affected the coast. Is this true? Thanks.

The largest fires are in southwestern Montana and southeaster Idaho. We are heading to Glacier this weekend - Does anyone have any first hand comments on the conditions there. I have checked out the fire websites noted in the post below, and I recommend them highly. Thanks!

The coasts of WA, OR,and CA are fine right now and almost certainly will be fine for your trip. Generally wildfires in Northern CA are inland, such as the one recently at Sequoia. It's farther south around LA and Orange County where you get the canyon fires that threaten places like Malibu.

These sites, from the National Interagency Fire Center, should help.

We are going to Glacier from South Florida on the 24th of August. Mary, when you return, would you post what the conditions were regarding the fires. Thanks.
