If you actually want 2 beds in a room, pay the extra and use Expedia.
My wife made the mistake last night bidding on a hotel room with Priceline for 2 adults. She is traveling with a friend (female). She was assigned a room with 1 queen bed. Priceline and the hotel would not budge on a room with 2 beds.
This morning I called Discover to try to reverse the Priceline charge-no deal.
This morning I booked a room in the same hotel with 2 queens for about $25 more. I advised her to use both rooms if they won't be reasonable about cancellations.

When you book on Priceline, there are no cancellations. I am surprised, however, that the hotel wouldn't give them a 2-bed room if one if available, at least if one is available at the time they check in.

Expedia allows cancellations up to 24 hours before checkin time.
Expedia lets you pick Non-smoking rooms with 1 or 2 beds.
I reserved the last 2 bed room the hotel had for that date.
They can snore in separate rooms for the $131 I'm out for 2 rooms.
The hotel knew they were going to rent the 2 bed room for a lot more than what was bid for the 2 adult/1 bed room.
I'll continue to use Priceline for car rentals.

You book on Priceline, you take the risk that you won't get two beds or any other particular amenities you are seeking. That's why bid-your-own-price on Priceline is cheap. Expedia is not cheap, it's just an online booking service for the hotel. I don't understand the complaint.

I have used Priceline many a time. Until the last rental, whereas I will never use Priceline again. The name your own price, turned out to be not true to its name. I got a motel instead of a hotel, which was equivalent to a 1/2 star. Upon arrival, they told me there was a resort fee, which was and additional 22% of the rate that Priceline quoted me and it was not a resort. I protested, but I had already paid Priceline in full. Priceline, who I called didn't care, about this or the factor that the place was a dump.

Please be careful using this company, we lost 870.00.
Paid 185 per night. 4 nights plus taxes
Tried to cancel because of family emergency (no bs).
Refused refund.
Did more research and found out we could have booked direct and paid only 165.00!!!
Spent one hour pleading with them, no resolution, as far as we are concerned this is a scam company.
We will never use priceline ever again. They should be shut down.

www.priceline.com is AWESOME for me #1 planet booking engine

they also own www.booking.com fantastic no bid site

PCLN their stock is an awesome performer also

Have used them MANY times at least fifty maybe more.

The good news can save 50%-80% sometimes a bit more BIDDING

"Name Your Own Price" I have saved thousands sometimes on

one booking got a 600 euro/nt suite Zurich/Marriott for a week

for $80/nt but it is a game and you have to know how to play.

www.betterbidding.com use calender of wins as a guide and

lowball bids over several days and work your way up.

Ignore all prompts from priceline do not get "bidding" fever.

The bad news for the clueless like above like ALL auctions

NOTHING is changeable/refundable sales are "as is"

ALWAYS buy quotewright.com insurance.

Bookings are for 2 max taxes fees can be an extra 15-20%

If you bid below 3.5-3 stars you can end up with a dump rarely

Resort Fees if a resort are extra but still great value

for me if you know how to play the game.

Routinely 4 to 5 stars from $40 or so anywhere in the world

for me on a routine basis so I will continue to use them A LOT

Booking.com their no bid site is awesome too discounts

best most honest recent reviews on the web unlike all

the fake owner culled reviews on TripAdvertizer.

Forgot also bid only on a region you are willing to stay in.
Recently booked a 4 stat FLL Marriott "Airport" Hotel for $40
because I added North FLL to my bid after the Airport did not
fill.

Found out they were 12 miles away from the airport and had no
shuttle had to use FF miles to rent a mustang to go there and
back it was cheaper than taxi.

So be very careful with your areas or you may find yourself

in the boonies or a location that is not touristic...

still an awesome room for price though.

Nytrus, I am sorry to hear you lost that much money due to a family emergency. As qwovadis said, you should have purchased travel insurance. Priceline is very clear that bookings are nonrefundable, and that is a risk one takes in exchange for some really great deals. To wit:

"All hotel reservations are non-cancelable, non-refundable, non-changeable and non-transferable by you. Once you purchase a reservation, your method of payment will be charged for the amount shown - regardless of whether or not the reservation is used. Credit will not be given for any unused reservations and cannot be used toward any future purchases."

I'd love to have been the operator at the next desk while this person was giving a song n dance to a contact at Priceline.

Multiple layers of personal cluelessness should not be combined to trash a company, much in the same way that two wrongs can never make a right.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy again would anyone bid $185 on Priceline if they could land one of their potential rooms for $165???

Anybody with that story doesn't deserve to waste an hour of a Priceline operator's time. (should have been charged by Priceline for that too!)

This is like the rural resident who doesn't pay the $20 or $50 to the local fire department in advance and who then wants the fire department to put out their house fire anyway!! (or plots to maybe make the payment while the house is burning down)

I doubt Nytrus will see anyone's response. He registered just to post his complaint.

But just in case . . "Spent one hour pleading with them, no resolution, as far as we are concerned this is a scam company.

"

PL is not a scam company and they don't cheat anyone. Millions of people use it successfully every year.

Must they do their homework? -- sure. You didn't --- and you were burned. That was not PL's fault.

(but again - he probably won't see these posts)

Nytrus should have bought the trip insurance.

I wonder what room they were bidding on, $185 per night?

It is the mantra of this board, "you have to do your research before using priceline. Here's how..."

It truly does take all kinds!
