Thanks for the replies! And yes, I assume it would be Chicago. I should have added also which places are known for shipping them. My friend loves pizza and we do not have a place that makes stuffed pizza here (south fla) so I thought I would surprise him with one.

If it is done a certain way deep-dish can be BETTER than the thin crust variety, although I am a thin and crispy crust person on any given pizza day. Don't judge all stuffed pizzas by what you get outside of Chicago.
The above are all excellent, but my all time favorite one is at Gino's East in the Southwest suburbs. It's very similar to Baccino's but it has more corn meal and also lose corn meal under the bottom crust that is HEAVENLY.
YUM!

There's a little-known place in Chicago called Rizzata's that has the best stuffed pizza I've had anywhere (and I've had Giordano's, Uno's, Gino's, Bacino's, etc.). Giordano's is a close second, though!
For regular deep dish, my favorite is Lou Malnati's. Gino's is also very good!

When people talk about "stuffed pizza" what do they mean? Pizza Hut has the god-awful processed cheese stuffed crust.
But there is a pizza place near where I live called Zachary's that says they make "Chicago Style" stuffed pizza. Really, it's not "stuffed", but rather a deep-dish pizza. I don't like thick crust, but their crust isn't that thick. The pizza is absolutely AMAZING.
Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? Zachary's Pizza in Berkeley and Oakland, CA

I love Zachary's stuffed pizza, too. And, yes, Sarah, I do know about food. But, James, it IS actually a stuffed pizza. The top dough layer is thin and kind of melts in.
I think of stuffed pizza as just a different thing than pizza, and I don't see why you can't like both, if they're good.
You know, even in Italy there are variations in pizza. The Romans and Neapolitans argue all the time about crust.

Being a huge pizza fan, here's my take. Not sure if I'm 100% right, only what I've noticed. I believe pan pizza has a thick crust and of course, is baked in a pan. Deep dish crust isn't usally as thick but it's baked in a pan and has more toppings. Stuffed has a botton and top crust and usually has the most toppings. To answer a previous questions, a calzone is usually a serving for one and involves one round crust folded over to form a "moon" with the fillings inside and then baked.
