I wish I could offer you some good "insider" advice, Ashi, but I just don't know that area as well as I know the Whites. There's one big highlight - the scenery - and it's nearly everywhere you look as you work your way south on Route 1. The Maine coast between Acadia and Portland is pretty much a series of long inlets, with the peninsulas in-between each having a road that leads out to a more-or-less scenic area at the end. Although it can be a bit touristy, many people enjoy visiting Boothbay Harbor, and Pemaquid Point just north of there is much less visited and very nice with a museum at the lighthouse. Freeport, many years ago a sleepy village that was home to a little company called LL Bean, has been transformed into an outlet megalopolis that old Leon Leonwood Bean wouldn't recognize. If you're into that sort of thing it's worth a visit - if not, it's best avoided. Portland has an artsy-craftsy area called the Old Port that's nice to stroll around - again somewhat touristy but reasonably well done with some interesting restaurants and brew pubs. Portsmouth has undergone a bit of a renewal in recent years - somewhat reminiscent of Portland's Old Port - and is also worth a stop.

Happy to be of service, and I hope you have a great time, Ashi. From what I see of the foliage around here (about 35 miles west of Boston) - perhaps 10 to 20% turned - I think you're going to hit it just about perfectly in NH. I'll look forward to hearing how everything works out.
