Which studio tour in Los Angeles area is best?
Hi! Our family of 5 will be in San Diego next spring and are interested in going on a studio tour. I've searched this forum and couldn't find any opinions on the various tours. Can anyone give us suggestions? Thanks!!!

Consider spending the night in LA if you're going to be there all day for a tour. The traffic back and forth from San Diego to LA can be horrendous (it's close to 3 hours drive time in the best of conditions). NBC is supposed to have a fairly decent tour. Just not something that locals are into out here. We know enough people in the business not to have to take a tour to see the ins and outs of the business. My suggestion is that you try and get tickets to one of the shows being filmed in town. Frasier tends to be a favorite.

Have been to the majority of the studio tours. Moved out here and figured why not. The top three in my opinion are: Warner Bros., NBC, and Sony. NBC and WB are fairly close to one another. WB and Sony are working lots so you get to see all the props new and old and sets. So if I had to pick one, it would be Warner Bros. As for getting tickets for a taping of a show, your pretty much out of luck. All the popular shows give out their tickets in June and wrap up their years filming by March or early April. But here's some tour info you can check into.
Warner Bros. Studios: 818-972-TOUR
Sony: 323-520-TOUR
NBC: 818-840-3537
Also there are some age limitations for taking the tours.
Warner Bros. children over 8 years old.
Sony: children over 12.
You may want to try doing NBC and WB on the same day as their so close. Hope this helps.

DO NOT under ANY circumstance waste your time on the NBC tour. Even if they were passing out $100 bills, I would NEVER take this tour again.
The "tour" consists of looking at dusty wigs in a glass case, pictures of old Johnny Carson show props and looking at the collapsed and stored sets for Days of Our Lives. There are only two shows filmed on the lot, Jay Leno and DOOL. Also, LA's local NBC affiliate broadcasts its news from there. Big whoop.
Even my tour guide seemed bored.
