which part of island in Late May

I am completely confused. We are planning a trip to Maui and/or Kawai in mid May. I have read NOT to stay in the south or where because of winds etc at that time of year.
to maximize our enjoyment, and because we love to snorkel, I would really apprecitate your insights and suggestions about where is best to be at that time of year. Also for the Big Island.
Thanks so much!!

We love to snorkel too, and while we haven't been in May, usually summer, Maui has more and better snorkel spots, IMHO. On Maui the wind kicks up in the afternoon. However, the best we've EVER seen was Kealakekua bay on the Big Island. The BI has the clearest water of all the islands.

Kauai has Tunnels and Haena on the N. Shore which might be a bit rough in May, and a little bit by Poipu. Maui's snorkel spots are numerous, going by memory north to south on the west side:

Honolua, Kapalua, Black Rock @ Kaanapali Beach, Ulua and Polo beaches in the Wailea area, and the Ahihi Kinau marine reserve.

From looking at his other posts, I'm guessing Bob purposely misspells words, perhaps to be able to find his oywn posts later?.

Do you Know how to use your screen name to pull up your posts? You just click on your name in blue, up by the Fodor's logo on the left.

Otherwise you risk having people think that if you are too lazy to spell place names after being corrected, decide that they're too lazy to help you!
